After ATMOsphere Japan, Danfoss Cooling recently attended ATMOsphere Australia held at Luna Park conference hall, overlooking scenic Sydney Harbor.

The ‘hot’ topics of the conference covered not only the HFC phase-down – but also the shortage of trained technicians, the need to boost industry collaboration, the need to roll out natural refrigerant systems in the commercial and industrial sectors, and how to improve the efficiency of CO2 refrigerant systems in the warm ambient temperatures of Australia.

Danfoss offers training program on CO2

In collaboration with TAFE NSW, Danfoss is offering contractors, installers, consultants, and wholesalers a two-day theoretical and hands-on training program on CO2. The certification program provides two nationally recognized units of competence in the use of CO2 as a refrigerant. Attendees will learn about safety awareness and the legal requirements for CO2 as a refrigerant, as well as the proper methods for the repair and service of CO2 refrigeration systems.

When asked if we envision Danfoss’ relationship with TAFE growing, our Food Retail, Business Development Manager, Inderpal Saund said, "We have started with CO2, but in the long term we will help on other natural refrigerants, such as ammonia, due to the vast experience that Danfoss has."
He continued, "We have customers requesting classroom and hands-on training, so this is the perfect platform for them to gain experience. The program will be mainly focused in Australia at this stage, but we are exploring extending it to other APAC regions."

Exclusive access and free site visit to TAFE NWS for the attendees

At ATMOsphere Australia, Danfoss addressed the need to improve training by organizing a free site visit to TAFE NSW the next day. The registered attendees of ATMOsphere Australia were given exclusive access to Australia’s leading provider of vocational education and training. This included a guided tour of the various types of Sub-Critical and Transcritical CO2 systems that are currently being installed by the supermarket industry.

To continue the momentum, our mobile training unit for CO2 applications will be making its way to Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland in Q4, 2017. So, stay tuned!
